Multi functional digital display

Hello I have a 97 406 LX 1.8 16v, which apparently did not come with a Multi functional digital display as standard. The wiring loom is there, and I have managed to get a display with the same 15pin connector.The handbook seems to indicate that the display is controlled by the end of the wash/wipe stalk but the bit you push in seems seized up. Is it possible to get this unit working. I have it plugged in, and it lights up with 4 ---- symbols on the display so there is power there.

I'm just guessing here, but it may be that the stalk slide isn't 'seized up' but rather non-functioning as yours is a basic spec model. Get thee to a scrappers and hunt for a model with all the goodies, and pinch the stalk from that. Grab some front foglights while you're there ^_^

Yes you can wire it in, I had the same spec as you on my previous 406.
You will need to replace the stalk and also grab a spare plug which will piggy back onto the existing connector. Be prepared to break out the soldering iron, there's a few wires that need adding!
