Xenon retrofit with Hella projectors and LED position lights

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Xenon retrofit with Hella projectors and LED position lights

Post by Voltron »

Hello all, before, my headlights have H7 kit with much glare :)

Purchased Hella 50 mm H7 halogen projectors (95 eur/each) from Tm Tuning because I want to use H7 xenon kit with them.

I couldn't disassembled projector's lens and reflector parts.

Don't want to cut back of reflector ...

Left headlight was retrofitted first , for test ...

Left : halogen FF reflector with H7 kit, right : halogen DE projector with H7 kit :

Cut-off and pattern of hella halogen DE module only (with kit)
Light distribution is very wide, and there ise a yellow line on the center of cut-off
I must calibrate up-down level of new headlights, I think no need for right-left level.

Need suggestions-opinions, thank you !

What an incredible amount of work!

Well done :D

I always wondered what made the beam pattern and it is the metal plate in front of the lens!

The pictures with the projectors switched on look great.

Yes, this metal shield blocks part of the light for dark upside, bright downside.
And it generates purple, green, yellow light beams in cut-off line. (wavelength)

I think you have been very clever to develop this idea, for many of us it would seem a bit risky (we have funny vehicle testing laws about headlights).

We would have to buy the projectors and ballasts and some new spare headlights to use for the project, which may or may not work out so well done for trying it out, I hope you are pleased with the lights.

That is probably the best looking 406 I've seen 8)

The colour coded side strips look excellent and those wheels suit the car perfectly, a good jod well done.

Update :

I replaced old H7 projectors with D2S xenon projectors. With these projectors, I got more sharpest and purplest cut-off line, much wider and powerful light distribution.

Image

I cut back of low beam reflector because these D2S projectors are 2 cm. long more then old ones.

Image

Each of LED in stripe have 8000K color temperature, 120º angle, 120mA and 3 lumen output. This stripe is flexible and have many different color options.

I cancelled position bulbs and retrofitted a piece of LED stripe in headlight housing. I cut the stripe into 6 pieces (which has 3xLed) and used one of them.

Position lights ON

Position and low beams are ON
