Has anyone got Side Air Bags ?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Has anyone got Side Air Bags ?

Post by Welly »

My front seats have a sticker on the base showing side air bags, the manual says there is a side airbag indicator on the dash (looks like 2 pillows around your head), but all I get on the dash is the orange 'AIR BAG' indicator.

Has anyone got a check light on the dash for the side air bags?

Also where the hell do the bags 'erupt' from because I cannot see on the seats or anywhere.

My D9 coupe has side bags, I think they come from inside the seat. Theirs no check light on the dash to indicate the electrics are working just some stickers

Kinda hope i never find out where they come out of, or not!

Well that is a strange one, Peugeot told me the light won't be on unless there is a fault, but you would think it should at least light up with the ignition to at check the circuit/bulb.

I don't suppose there is much you can check yourself?

How likely is it that the bulb has gone? (when all the others work ok).

You know what Supa....I don't think it has side Air Bags because no matter how hard I look there is no evidence at all on the seat (I am looking on the upper seat at the side near the headrests/window side).

There is something firm you can feel inside the seat but it is all behind stitched leather and you can't imagine the bag bursting out from behind the flat material can you?

But why have the white stickers on the seat base?

It is EXTREMELY rare for a dash bulb not to work so the mind boggles :?

I would be interested to know about the leather/airbag hidden behind material thing! and also why the seats have stickers on but may not have the bags?????

Also I suppose Spaniels ears are better than eggs, as they would dangle a bit and flop about nicely for you to gain a purchase on them.

I just nipped out and checked. The airbag logo/oval isnt rubber, but embossed into the leather. I havent seen the light in the dashboard though.
The slip ring on my steering wheel is dirty or something, cos the airbag light comes on sometimes when turning a corner. Its the beeping that does my head in though!

So miniman, you have not got the sausage head symbol on the dash check lights?

Have you got the white sticker on the seat base?

I've got the stickers, no 'badge' on the seat and no check light :|

With your fault, there is a common problem with the wiring connector under the seats for the air bags, aparently a connector under the seat can get a bit dodgy and throw up faults, not sure which one it is but someone will know on here.

I will check the dash again at fag break time.
I checked the connectors under the seats. Its definately the slip-ring on the wheel for sure.
More info shortly...........

Right Welly, Theres no light on my dash, but the bags are there. I have a light that tells if the front passenger bag is on or not, but thats it.
If it does have side bags, then the oval should be there to inform you that they are. I cant understand the stickers myself. Any other ideas???

I can definately feel something hard under the leather material (ohh err) but that's about it.

This is a strange one, the owners manual states that if the 'sausage head' light does not illuminate then it can indicate a problem and you should go to the dealer etc etc.

The Dealer told me ages ago that some people have had air bag warning lights come up and they did not even realise they had the air bags anyway.
