Pass Side Diped Beam Problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Pass Side Diped Beam Problem

Post by lynneandcrow »

Hi there I have a strange problem and I cannot work out what to do now. My passenger side diped beam light stopped working a week ago and I thought it was the buld. So today I got arround to replacing the bulb but this light is not working at all. All the other light work and I have checked all the fuses, its only the passenger side diped beam that will not work.

Dose anyone have any ideas or experiance of this problem.

BTW my car is a 406 sri 1998 Mk1

Cheers

my cars headlight once started mucking about, the bulb was the problem but even when i changed it i noticed it didnt always stay on, it turned out to be the plug that went into it had a loose connection, so tightning up the metal connectors for a better fit is a good choice, and spray a bit of wd40 to get rid of any dirt stopping a good connection, also you could have loose wires i know there is an inline fuse on the left headlight of my car, its not the easiest one to see but move along the wire and its in a black box, its worth a try.

Sorry to be a pain but I had had a look and I cant see any inline fuses. Can you please tell me where it is near to or located.

Thanks for the fast response :cheesy:

the inline fuse is beside the wires coming out of the left headlight, its a 20amp, im just assuming its on all 406 cars because i cant see any reason why it would have been put there by a previous owner, but go back about a few inches and its in the wire a rectangular fuse box, other than that it could be loose connections or a bad earth, use a multimeter to test there is power getting there
