PROBLEM WITH LEFT INDICATOR

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

PROBLEM WITH LEFT INDICATOR

Post by marco2002 »

My 406 Hdi has developed a problem left indicator stays on all the time. I've managed to rectify it by putting a big elastic band around the indicator stalk and windscreen wiper stalk which seems to work. I phoned gsf for a price and its about £140 plus vat! I'll have to try a few breakers today as that seems a lot of money for a bit of plastic. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

My HDi is a 99 before the stalks changed, and managed to source just the stalk for about £36 off the bay, whereas latter cars you need to buy a lot more

Sounds like COM2000.

Though my symptom is left coming on after indicating and turning right.

£140 isn't a bad price at GSF, compared to £300+ at the stealers. Ordered mine from the internet for £140.

Prise airbag off (put a big screwdriver in the hole at the base of the wheel), few connectors, there is a large torx bolt for the steering wheel (mark with a marker so you put them back at the right angle), take the shroud off, COM2000 is in front of you.

Take care getting the airbag off as the connectors from the COM2000 are fragile (I had to end up soldering mine back together).

Just been on the phone to Peugeot and it turns out that i can just buy the indicator stalk on its own costs £57. GSF have the same part for £32 bit cheaper. Quite pleased that its not the comm 2000 unit. Car is off the road just now a few bits and pieces to get fixed. Now driving a clapped out 106 diesel! With noisy tappets lol. Still at least it gives me a chance to get the work done.

This link solves it all - too easy and cheap! I used a little piece of grey insulation foam to match up the colors :D
