sidelight bulb renewal

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Might sir have hands a little larger than a 5-year-old and/or not have qualified in gynaecology?
(Final exam = wallpaper the hall & stairs via the leterbox).

Never done a D8, but managed mine with the tips of my fingers to twist the lickle extended holder thingy & work it out eventually - mind you, i've only got little hands. Skin grows back eventually.

So I fitted those last-forever LED's 8) (One of which just about managed a year).

If you're having trouble, just whip the battery out, remove the air filter box (jubilee clip or two, possibly need to unclip a sensor), then take the battery box out (few 10mms on the bottom and 3 going in from the air filter box bracket)... Something I can do in 5 mins in my sleep nowadays the amount of times I've done it on my '6's...

If you do it, take photos so you know what you need to do if you need to change the driver's side (which has more room, but no easy option for stripping down)

Ah yes. That's the aircon drier. One torx screw on the band holding it to the battery box, then slide it and the band sideways and it'll free off. You can then carefully shove the drier out of the way

I never had a problem changing mine, in fact I could do it so fast I even swapped-out a pair of front side lights in Halfords Car Park so I could see what they looked like straight away :)

Don't think I've ever needed to swap a 406 sidelight bulb. Just headlights

Don't ever try to do a Mk.4 Golf sidelights though. They're virtually impossible to do without removing the bumper and pulling out the light clusters
