ecu change?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

ecu change?

Post by johntl »

need some help!
trying to replace my old 406 hdi 110 and every time I test drive another 406 its no where near as quick, I understand the change in ecu's from hard wired to sensor type after 2001, my question is to get a 406 as the old one is it possible to fit the ecu from a 407 136bhp 2.0 hdi ? to a 02/03 406. hope u can help really like the 406 but need the same or better performance without getting a 2.2.
any info ?

No, is the short answer. The ecu won't transfer & work, besides the power increase in the 407 is due to it being the later spec HDi - 16V, higher boost & injection pressures and it will have a DPF.

If your 110 is significantly quicker than newer models, perhaps it's been remapped? You can always get this done with a later car.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
