2002 hdi 110 fuel gauge

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2002 hdi 110 fuel gauge

Post by grasmere59 »

My fuel gauge seems to be so inaccurate it's unreal,it can be nearly on empty and when i put 5ltrs in from a can it goes to just under half and the range jumps up at least 150 miles! Must be the most economical hdi in the world i thought but then with 1/4 of a tank left the obc says "low fuel",put £15 in and the gauge does'nt move a jot.I have'nt had the car long but the gauge is all over the shop, any ideas?? :?

its not inaccurate the gague is just adventurous and likes moving around for exercise, mine does the same it knows when its full and empty inbetween is mad, i drive 100 miles and it goes back down to below half, then can shoot back up. 5 litres doesnt make a difference in the 406 a thing i learnt after the clio was just to fill it and not put bits of fuel in here and there. The only real problem i had was that i drove a while on empty with the light on and when i filled up it stayed there, that was solved by parking with 2 wheels on a kerb, crawling under the car and thumping the tank a good whack and it worked. But the trip computers thing which says the remaining miles left although its stupid as well it usually is right when it displays ----

Perhaps I need to put something in the knowledge base about fuel gauges 'cos they're all terrible. At least... :?

Anyone with anything other than a D9 HDi have fuel gauge issues? My D8's was fine... :frown:
