Hi all
Found this forum off google and ive got a simple question that I hope can be sorted
Ive got s 1998 (S reg) Peugeot 406 SRi (petrol) and Im trying to find out where the bonnet alarm catch goes, the reason for this is that I had a low speed bump a few weeks ago and i cant remember where it goes as ive just finished reparing it
My Haynes manual doesnt give me any help
thanks in advance

Re: 406 bonnet alarm catch
Welcome to the forum, the bonnet open sensor i think is in the latch itself, or else the hinges, i wanted to add a light for under the bonnet and would need to find that switch but that would be the place i would look, wait a while and someone might know the awnser a bit better than i do.
Re: 406 bonnet alarm catch
the bonnet wire is only about 4 inches long is located to the top right right hand side of the radiator fans for the moment we have taken off the wire (alarm still works) as it turns out the switch was damaged in the accident
Its surprised me how much damage a 20mph hit can do

Re: 406 bonnet alarm catch
must be part of the catch then for i cant see any other way for it to work, but someone with more expertise might be better help if they come along.
20mph sure will cause a right and big bump, thats the problem with modern cars they crumple easier to keep you safe in faster accidents but 20mph bangs can cause more damage than on an old car with no crumple zones. Even so its a worthwile price for your safety, did you have airbags to do?

Re: 406 bonnet alarm catch
The car is fitted with both passenger and driver airbags, but they didnt go off, guess it wasnt 'that' much of a impact (to cut a long story short i went into the back of someone due to another car infront breaking late to turn into her drive way, and the roads where sodden (tons of standing water) so i just locked up and bang into the back of a Rover 75 lol, thank fully no damage to the Rover 75 (apart from a paint mark)
this was over 2 weeks ago now so im guessing/hoping ive got away with it lol

Re: 406 bonnet alarm catch
Aye hopefully the 75 driver is not one of them A-holes who mysteriously gets whiplash and calls upon the services of something ruining the country and its these no win no fee lawyers. If i got whiplash in my car id just be thankful to be alive and be a man about it and put up with a bit of pain, fair enough if you suffer a life changing injury or your car is given some costly damage i can understand. but things like claiming for whiplash or falling on a wet floor annoys me.
