Radio display off

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Radio display off

Post by raccoon »

Tonight while coming to work, my lights on the radio display went off. No warning at all, meening they never dipped or went bright. The radio still works ok. I will take it out later this weekend to check plugs are in ok. just wondered if there is a seperate fuse for them on the main fuse board. If anyone knows please give me the heads up.
thanks everyone.

I dont recall what fuse but there was definatley a fuse that went and knocked this out as well as the bootlight and the seat memory, once changed the display come back on but the bulbs are the other possibility if the fuse isnt the issue

Is your radio display integral to the head unit or a part of the trip computer which displays outside temperature?
If the latter the bulbs may have blown which is a dead easy fix.

Hi teamster, the radio has the outside temp on it. I know there are four bulbs on mine that make the display light up because I have just changed two of them a couple weeks ago. I wonder if its possible for all four to go together. Its suprising how much you miss something when its not lit up. I will get a few more bulbs and change them. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like the multi-function display, on mine removing fuse 8 killed the lights in it and lost the radio's memory. It's probably not fuse 8 on yours but worth heading for the fuse panel to check for a blown fuse.

Afternoon everyone. Just had a look at the problem. I have checked the fuse and all was ok at that end. took off the display front and checked the bulbs which are ok. So I turned ignition on and wiggled the plug on the back and the display came back on. So it must of been a bad connection. I would like to thank you all for the input though. Its good to see people out there willing to give up time and knowledge to help someone they dont know.
