Re: the list gets bigger!
it is getting a bit all over the place, luckilly im keeping up with it all, get it all into one place.
after reading these various posts im starting to actually thing this could be a bsi, ill try to be positive and say it could be the footwell connectors, but the bsi could be knackered, i dont know what makes it break except for adding extra electrical stuff incorrectly.

its allright i can understand that you have a problem, and your new to the site and dont know the best place to get it sorted. By the sounds of it all if the footwell connectors arent the issue it might need a dealer visit.

D8s don't, D9s do. Just stuff it in there, you'll need to either get an adaptor for the power/speaker connector or get in there with the wire cutters...

Re: the list gets bigger!
I was at an auto electrician who says he finds it easier to sort out psa electrics than VAG electrics. I said 'but how often do you get a vw in here', and was told 'more than youd think, and more times than i see peugeots', apparently the current passat, which is a pointless car in the whole automotive market gives trouble with its key, its handbrake, the central locking and the dials. But really what reason is there to buy the current passat, it doesnt feel german at all, its ugly and badly equipped, the skoda octavia is a much better car from the vag group, and there is toyota avensis, ford mondeo, citroen c5, even the 407 for a bit more value.

Re: the list gets bigger!
The electric handbrake on the Passat is a disaster, I read of one owner who chased his car as it rolled off down the hill into traffic and just managed to get into it as it crashed
They should put one of these on the options list:

the cd player im hopefully going to replace it with is out of a d9 amember as broken on here,
im just curious as to will it work in my car or will ihave to have it De-coded for it to work hence the bsi question,
its strange why a radio works thru the bsi carnt get my head round that, icouid understand it if the code was held by the mfd,
im confused,

Re: the list gets bigger!
Oops, I thought you meant an aftermarket CD, one out of another 406 will need decoding I'm afraid. It's all linked together, radio, mfd & bsi.

Re: the list gets bigger!
£30 for the standard radio decode, worth it in my opinion but dont be a numpty like me forking out that to get it decoded, then realising its not compatible with the jbl amp, then have to get another one some time because the sound supressors work too well.
