OBD/2 Protocol

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

OBD/2 Protocol

Post by Fury556 »

Hey all,

I've had a search around various websites and on here but can't seem to find an answer so sorry if it has been looked at before :)

Does anyone know what protocol the Pug uses on ODB? Is mine even compatible due to age? (406 2.1TD 1998).

I'd like to try and get hold of an ODB to USB lead and run a laptop showing real time stats - potentially using the car in a long distance rally so would be cool to have additional info as well as GPS location updates and whatnot :)

Anyways - any help would be much appreciated. Also would I be able to find this on the ECU? It's easy to get to.

The protocol on your car, (and most if not all pre-2004 diesels), is Peugeot's home-grown stuff, that vitrtually nothing bar their own Lexia / Peugeot Planet 2000 interface will access.

Most people who are sufficiently interested get an eBay clone for about £150 - search for 'Lexia 3'
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
