Half light in dash

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Post by BlackmaxDK »

Hello guyz :)

First of all, im new here, im from denmark, YAY :)
The cars must be the same the only diference is the steeringwheel sitting in the opposite side :P
and sorry for my english i really hope you all can understand what im talking about ;)

To the issues!

My dash is only lid up in the right side :S the side where the odo and water temp is my rpm and fuel gauge are black...
Ive tried to install new bulbs, 2 other housings with the same issue no light on the left side .

My car is Peugeot 406 1.8SR 1997

Ive tried all kinds of danish info sites even Peugeot Club Denmark, but no help at all ...
So maybe i can get an answear here ? im also looking for a fuse layout inclusive a topic over the fuses, what theyre for and so on, i dont have the owners manual so i cant check, if i can find one here that would be cool :)

Think thats all.

Regards

Hi there, welcome :cheesy:

You're not the only left-hand drive car on here and no, there's nothing wrong with your English

406 instruments have a history for bad solder joints, usually people either find them or go across the back of the board with a soldering iron to remake every joint.

Good luck!

That dosnt sound good im not so good at soldering :(

The other houses ive tried looked good around the joints, maybe i shall find a alternative route to get electricity to the bulbs ?
ive ordered for some time ago white plasma dials for my car but they will be no use if the second half dont light up :/

Your car is a mark 1 (D8) - if you're not hot at soldering, then you might find it easier just to replace the dials
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

get yourself a soldering iron and get them clocks out.

you dont need no solder. a simple touch on the solder joint allready on the board is all it needs to heat it up and remelt the solder.

you only learn trying .. theres nothing that can go wrong. you can see the solder melt . just remove the soldering iron :cheesy:
