windows

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

My car closes its windows when the deadlocking/alarm/immobiliser is armed, which you do by pressing the little button on the key within about 5 secs of locking the doors with the main button

Just tried everything to get it to do that, and nothing :|

which model cars do it then and which do not ? also did you central lock then deadlock or go straight to deadlock ?

my car v reg 16v 2.0 glx......unable to get to work....yet

some info i found from another site cut and pasted the lot

Hi

SOME but not all of the early L & LX spec 406s did use the awful infra red
remote locking keys & the sensor will be in the roof consoul.
But then again they also used the RF key like the high spec models.

The GLX, SRI & Executives always used the RF remote keys & the sensor for
this is buried behind the glovebox.

Also the U.K. spec 1996, 1997 & some 1998 406 GLX, SRI & Executives ( IE:
The cars with 4 electric windows from the factory ) had a total closure
feature from the remote key.

Open all the windows, Deadlock the car with the remote, Big button first &
then within 3 seconds the little button, Stand back & watch those windows
close on there own, This was never mentioned in the handbook.
On the high spec cars, The handbook might be in its little storage tray
under the front passenger seat ( L & LX dont have the tray )

This feature was removed in 1998.

That better be a joke miniman or I'm straight round there to 'sort' your motah

*goes off mumbling something about miniman's bargain black beauty which will avoid any depreciation for 3 years and which he also repairs himself very cheaply and otherwise has no problems with it whatsoever and his window closing thingy also works perfectly*

*shakes fist*
