Trip computer/wash wipe stalk

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Trip computer/wash wipe stalk

Post by baurluvva »

Hi all,

I have a 307 (shares the comms 2000 unit with 406). The thing is I have been a muppet and pulled the end off too far - this has disconnected the ribbon cable from the main body (at the bottom of the shaft). Does anyone know how to get the ribbon connected? I've tried but to no avail

i think you have to dismantle the wheel column cover .. and then i think you will gain access to the COM2000 and see where the ribon cable disconnected ..and then conect it ..

By the way .. why did you pushed the button ?

I didnt push the button....... The trip wasn't working so I prised the end off (not the very end button - but the complete twist bit) and it seems that the ribbon was only just located - no resistance before it pulled out!

I have lifted the column cover - comms 2000 was underneath but would need to open it up to see where the ribbon was located!

sorry, i didn't explained very well, ( lack of a good english language lol ) , i did mean you need to remove the cover where the stalks fit into ... there you will see better...

Ok. Is there anything I need to be aware of when dismantling the comms unit?

when I take apart the indicator comms2000 unit - are there any special ways of doing it ? Will bits fall out - what problems should I be made aware of?

Hi
a few weeks ago i did the same to my wifes 206..its streering wheel off, coms unit out.
from memory take the back part off carefully and you will see where the ribbon goes
puting it back a bit tricky but i managed it with my sausage fingers! without any dramas
i think it gets a bit tricky if the car has electronic stability program ( ESP)? if so seek some more advise on here BEFORE you tackle the job as theres a sensor i believe on the coms- that all i know.
btw i see you are in swindon, im in newbury 3 mins from juction 13 m4 and have planet peugoet if you ever need it
good luck

Not sure if it'll help but on the 406 it's on the ABS itself.
