I have had it with peugeot!!
I have a matched (came from same vehicle) BSI and ECU and key yet they cannot pair the items saying that they came from different vehicles!!!
I have read elsewhere that you can virgin dump a bsi to get it to pair but I cannot find what tools will do it
Can anyone shed any light??
I have pp2000 (fault reader)and Galletto 1260 (uploader)
I have been informed by dogslife that wasp may know?
Anyone?
ecu bsi ???

Re: ecu bsi ???
It might be that they mean the bsi & ecu are from a different vehicle to yours ie a com2000 or pre com2000.
These are visually the same but with completly different internals.
When I changed my pre com2000 ecu/bsi combo it was just plug and play, it didnt cure the fault though as I had a wiring loom fault!
I would have had to get the radio code programmed to the new ecu though.

Re: ecu bsi ???
Hi thanks for the reply!
It was same year same engine size model!!
it makes me think that the bsi needs reprogramming- maybe theyve spiked it!

Re: ecu bsi ???
multiplex happened over 2000 (or 2001) anyhow early cars of the year were not multiplexed, later cars were.
Re: ecu bsi ???
Where did you purchase the parts from?
was it a scrapyard ?
maybe theyve got them mixed up and theyre no longer paired it can happen if theyve had parts on shelf,
if iwas you in all honesty iwouid go to a Scrapyard where a running 406 as comein untouched bsi and ecu key & barrel and remove the parts your self,
sounds like theyve sold you a unpaired bsi and ecu to me

Re: ecu bsi ???
from what i understand the car uses less wires to send power and information around itself (although i dont see any less wires used)
Its also CAN BUS some sort of network to let the different parts of the car talk to eachother.

Re: ecu bsi ???
In practice, it means using one source of information for several functions, for example, some D8's had 3 water temp sensors - 1 for the ecu, 1 to work the radiator fan(s) and 1 for the gauge. Later D9's only have one, it's coonnected to the engine ecu, but the data is communicated to the clocks, climate control etc. All D9's have some of this functionality, the later 'fully mux' 2002 on cars have more of it.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Well, that explains the appearance of the BSI, in which the ECU sends Data to it and then the BSI sends the data to the respective components ..dogslife wrote:In practice, it means using one source of information for several functions, for example, some D8's had 3 water temp sensors - 1 for the ecu, 1 to work the radiator fan(s) and 1 for the gauge.
