Front Fogs Dash indication

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Front Fogs Dash indication

Post by fuvureju »

Well I have successfully retro-fitted front fogs to my 1996 LX 1.9DT
It has the switch below to the right of the steering wheel (RHD)

all works well front and rear expect i do not get an indication on the dash that the front fogs are on.
I have taken the dash out and checked that the bulb (which was already fitted) works fine.

So what wire from the switch feeds the dash light. - I cant work it out from the haynes manual diagram

Ther ear fog light indication on the dash works fine and even flashes momentarily when i put the front fogs on as the wire diagram suggests

any ideas?

thanks

illumination wires are usually a thin orange cable on 406s.

did you change the bulb on the clocks for a different bulb ?

Yes
i had the dash out and checked all the bulbs and swapped them around, and they are now all working fine.
I even have a spare instrument cluster which i tried but the fron fog indication on the dash does not illuminate though i do have the green light on the switch to say they are on.

looking at the wiring diagram it seems odd for the front fogs indication on the dash to not come on if the green light on the switch does illuminate.

does anyone know what feeds the insrrument cluster for the front fog indication - is it the same as the rear fogs or a different wire

thanks
