Hi All,
I have several problems with my BSI on my '99 2.0HDi 110 Exec Estate.
It all started a few months ago.
Firstly, I left the car at the station and went to work. While at work, the battery must have gone flat. When I returned in the evening, I couldn't open the car on the plip. I had to manually open the car, then disable the alarm using the button in the centre. I replaced the battery in the key and have tried several methods of re-synching the key but to no avail. I have even used pp2k to re-program the key to the bsi, but still the central locking and alarm wont operate from the key.
Any ideas?
Secondly, when I interrogate the bsi using pp2k it says there is a permanent fault on the data communication wire. This seems to be common to all the ecu's. Is this just a computer glitch or is there an actual hard fault?
Lastly, i have been told that the bsi also controls the a/c. I have had the a/c checked out by my local garage and found that the pressure switch is leaking. I also found the cooling fan resistors were open circuit so have replaced these. The fans now work on both speeds. I "Hot-Wired" the pressure switch so that the plug terminals were closed circuit as per Schematics. Again I'm still not getting a supply to the Compressor Clutch. If I unplug the compressor from the car and put 12v across it I can hear the Electro-Magnetic Clutch clicking. Is the relay for the A/C in the bsi and can it be changed?
Cheers
Graham.

Then it probably wasn't the battery in the plip (I presume that's what you meant) but the plip itself died
Is that ever ecu in the car? Not sure about this one but it sounds like your PP shouldn't even be working
The a/c relay is in the BSI yes, they do go faulty but, with a bit of surgery, they can be replaced - here it is over on the coupe club http://www.peugeot406coupe.com/phpBB3/v ... ay+air+con I think you'll have to register to look at it though. Alternatively, how's your French? http://www.coupe406.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?p=353817

Re: Is my BSI frazzled???
After de-fapping my ECU I have a permanent fault code on it of "no communication with BSI" which sounds similar to what you have? it doesn't seem to affect anything and I have successfully turned on various systems in the BSI that were off when I got the car (door lights, auto headlights auto wipers etc... it had had a "new" BSI fitted by the previous owner.)
Interestingly I have been trying to get it to learn a new remote plip (bought a new matching part number from ebay and was planning to use it with the immobiliser transponder and blade from the dumb 'spare' key that came with the car) I have tried several times to program this new plip into the BSI using pp2000, I know the process works because I was able to make it 'forget' my primary plip and re-add it again, but try as i might I cant get it to learn / respond to the second plip. I know the new plip is transmitting as it sets off my wireless doorbell (have been wondering what has been setting this off randomly for years, turns out it was my neighbor locking his D9!)
There are many people who point to posts such as this: http://www.programyourkeys.com/Peugeot_ ... tions.html referencing primary and secondary plips but i find that idea a little over engineered...
Maybe it is related to the no communication fault, but I find that a little hard to fathom since it is the BSI that deals with the plip and locking, plus I can make it forget and re-learn my original key and original transponder...Im beginning to wonder if it is technical possible to program in a second plip.
Sorry I cant offer much help, but please update this topic if you do solve it as i suspect it will be of great help to me!

Conversely, if someone rang you're doorbell would it unlock his car???benczuk wrote: I know the new plip is transmitting as it sets off my wireless doorbell (have been wondering what has been setting this off randomly for years, turns out it was my neighbor locking his D9!)

Errr, there's lots of pics of it in those links I posted above. It's inside the BSI so I recon you should leave it in peace...lozz wrote:Steve,
