Ignition on - and Mirrors do a little dance.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Ignition on - and Mirrors do a little dance.

Post by Welly »

This has happened a few times of late.........

I switch on the ignition and the mirrors do that silly dance and then go back to the memorised position like when you press on of the memories briefly.

Will this be another electrical gremlin of the 406 :?

That's funny, my nearside mirror sometimes does not fold in.

Makes you look a right doughnut when you pull up somewhere and one mirror gets stuck

You push it and it starts moving by itself all over the place

Seems to be better if you use them everyday, like the other stuff on the car....if it don't get used it goes on strike!!!

i tried pushing mine, but only after other mirror has folded. (i am not quick enough to run round to push mirror while still folding)

In case you didn't know,

To memorise a position press and hold the M and 1 buttons together and a beep will be heard.

Do the same for No.2 if you want.

To recall a position, open the door and BEFORE you put the keys in the ignition briefly press either 1 or 2 and the seat will travel all the way to the stored position in one hit and then do the mirror dance at the end.

If the keys are in the you have to press and HOLD the 1 or 2 button until the seat has completed the move, otherwise it will only move in little bits each time you press the button, wierd buy hey.

Hope this helps

My mirrors used to do this... I spoke to rmy local specialists and they told me of a few 406's with the problem, and continued to inform me that its not a cheap fix.... in fact I was informed that it's a replacement ECU job etc... in some cases, its been replacement switches ! Strange !

But mine hasn't done it for ages now ! :D

Darn froggy electrics !

I thought mine was bost! I'm going to try that out in the morning :)

Also one day (maybe the same day I fit these replacement rear brake disks and arch liner I've had sat around for months...) I'll get around to working what's up with the (un)heated seats
