Footwell lighting, (Leds)
looking for some ideas:
ive wired up some Led lights in the Footwells, at present ive wired into the Ilum wires on the ciggy lighter, (Temp)
they work ok when the lights are on, there just a tad bit bright driving about with them on,
im thinking of taking a negative feed from the interior light, the one on the roof,
or wouid it be best to go into the live one,
ive heard, using a feed from these can play Havoc with the bsi on these french critters ?
any ideas on best place to wire into,
or is the above best option,
thanks inadvance,

i think the live light turns on and off by the door mechanism, if you haven't noticed, when you just pull the handle on the door the light will come on right away... i have also some leds to put in my footwell.. but they are blue i think i'm gonna buy some white ones ..

If you have fancy 'Theatre Lighting' I don't think LED's work i.e. as the voltage reduces they just flicker or go off suddenly.
Didn't Farmer try this and the BSi went bananas?

Re: Footwell lighting, (Leds)
Toby406 (a Japanese member of the Coupe Club) got LED footwell lighting to work.
Then again, he also changed out just about every traditional filament bulb on his car and replaced them with LEDs, with the exception of the headlamp bulbs.

they look good but the Glare they give off isnt good when driving,

Re: Footwell lighting, (Leds)
Well, i could try to enable the leds only when doors are opened...like connecting them into the interior live light.

Re: Footwell lighting, (Leds)
ive took a live from somewhere else,
and took the neg-from the interior light,
its not caused anyproblems so far,
reason ive done this as irember Fps thread which got me thinking wether its drain on the live wire on the interior light that causes the bsi to go crazy,
French cars baffle me,
give me aford and ican wire up anything on it, withought these kind of problems

Re: Footwell lighting, (Leds)
hmm, my interior lights are all led/mini smd's, and got no problems so far ... the only problem is that they remain a tidy bit bright even when they supposedly should be off 100%, well i'm not bothered about it cuz the light doesn't light anything only the plastic

Re: Footwell lighting, (Leds)
surprisingly (because i did it) my footwell lights haven't missed a beat, with their crazy LDR system of operation, i had to take apart the overhead light to do some tinkering ie putting black sealant round the central light, so light from the other smaller lights didn't leak in and turn it on, and for the first week there was a bit of adjustments with the variable resistor so it went on only with the bulb and not the outside light.
But if you dont have bsi controlled overhead lighting id think its safe enough to wire it straight up, or at least to a relay.
The next project is to extend the lights to do the footwells of the rear seats.
