2.2 Hdi Anti pollution fault & engine management light

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2.2 Hdi Anti pollution fault & engine management light

Post by lionyo »

Hi,

I get the Anti pollution fault displayed along with the engine management light.

Any views in what it could be?

Your signature says you have two 2.0 110 HDis, is this one of them that's had a remap or do you also have a 2.2 with fap?

No I have a 2.0 HDI 110 and my dad had the 2.2 HDI 136bhp and was asking on his behalf.

By the way I dont't have two the X reg HDI has been sold...will remove that off my signature as it causes confusion

'ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT' simply means any fault reporrted by the engine ecu. Best to get it diagnosed, ideally with a PP2000 system. As it's a 2.2 HDi, many will jump to the conclusion that it's a particle filter related problem, but it doesn't have to be.

Didn't we discuss this car back in January?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Cheers, I've updated the thread title * - anti pollution faults are a bit generic but a K light is a bit more significant. I don't think I'm being pedantic, it's just with a 110 in your sig it was going to be confusing and with something about at speed or full throttle on your original post this was ringing bells with me for a fap problem, however you seem to have scrubbed that bit off. Is it a constant fault then?

* Edit: specifically to attract Dogslife's attention

I will get checked on a computer tomorrow but my suspicion is the airflow sensor I think it may have been caused by the total petrol station I filled up at.

Is the 110 airflow sensor the same as 136 maybe I could change it and find out?

I have seen a message come up saying gasoline additive low?

what does this mean the filter liquid is low or does it mean that the filter is blocked?

It means the Eolys additive is low, (or it 'thinks' it is).

Two options:

1). Refill tank at about £30+ / litre, then get the counters reset with PP2000 and hope that's the end of it......

2). De-FAP it, (DIY for about £50/60). = permanent cure. 8)

Doesn't the ECU have to be set to bypass that the DPF is now off and require a re-map?

Also I have been told that the tank to fill the additive is under the car where abouts is it exactly and is this the right additive http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pat-Fluid-DPX ... 2c5e811453

Many thanks!

Yes - you need to download an ecu file, then pyhsically remove the DPF element.

It's under the car,
you need some more kit to fill it,
it's nasty stuff,
don't know if that's the 'right' fluid,
bear in mind you'll need 5 litres of it,
need I go on?

I don't mind giving it a try for you, but be aware I haven't carried out this operation before.

I'm fairly certain the procedure entails resetting the counters, then adding a minimum of 15 litres of diesel, (presumably to trigger an additive injection), then possibly doing another reset, (Instructions are displayed on PP2000 during the operation).
