Interior Light/Central Locking fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Interior Light/Central Locking fault

Post by wtpfrd »

Hi,

Newbie here. I've got a 406 LX DT and today the belt for the powersteering etc came off. Got it in to a garage and they replaced that, no problem - however, when I got back in the car the ineteriro lights were flashing for about 15 seconds. They now do this every time I open any of the doors. Also, now when I lock the door (either just pressing the button on the inside or using the key from the outside) there's a 3 second delay before the rest of the doors lock???? I checked with the garage that fitted the new belt, but they say they didn't touch anything electrical.

Anyone any ideas what could be wrong??

Thanks!

Sounds like this happened only after the belt came off (losing the drive to the alternator).

You could try disconnecting the battery for say, 15 mins and trying again this might reset everything for you.

Make sure you know the radio code though if you need to.
