WHICH CODE READER?

Hi Everyone

I have an intermittant EML comes up on the dash and then goes out. Came on yesterday went out this morning. I need to get the code read so i can work out whats going on here. its been doing this on and off for about 6 months. I had a quick look tonight on ebay at a few code readers and most of them seem to be designed for diesels 2004 onwards. I did notice a scanner on there called elm 327. My 406 hdi is an early one on a 2000 plate (w reg). Which one would be the best? I havent really got £90 to buy peugeot planet which would be the ideal diagnostic device to buy. The socket for the code reader is on the right hand side under the steering wheel i know this because the AA man put the EML out for me when the lift pump was on its last legs ages ago. Any help or advice appreciated. I get paid at weekend so i'd like to get something ordered a bit quick.

I have a 2003 406 diesel and the unit on the link works via bluetooth and a smartphone (and a free app from the 'Android' market called 'Torque' - a paid version for a couple of quid gives a few more functions)

I believe this works on the D9 CAN-BUS 406.
