Central locking gone crazy!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Central locking gone crazy!

Post by Peter86 »

When i press the fob to unlock the car, it unlocks , then re-locks instantly. I have to open the door quickly before it re-locks itself. Also when im driving it randomly locks its self, and now and again it has little fits, where it just keeps on locking and locking itself uncontrolably...anyony have any ideas? It seems do be in a world of its own...

That sounds more like a multiplex screw up now :( Check under passenger side carpet for damp as per this thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12118 ( this probably only apples if your car was made after July 2001)

That makes complete sense steve, few months ago i had a leak (given up on trying to get bottom of it) and my passenger footwell had alot of water in it, so the damage must have been done then...also my airbag light is on for no reason!
Will look into this on the weekend and put my feedback back on here.

Many thanks

Air bag light has gone off now, which is strange as its been on for quite a while, as for the central locking, its getting even more crazy by the day, it locked me out yesterday
It seems to have a mind of its own, randomly opening and shutting, when i indicate, it locks me in the car. I took the carpet up in the drivers footwell and checked the 3 plugs for corrosion, they were all fine, no damp, they were like new. I took the carpet up in the passenger side and this was dry too, but there was no plugs under the carpet to check.
Is there a central locking module or something similar that could have packed in? really need to get to the bottom of this!

as a quick fix take the wires off the door lock moter you just have to lock it by hand then.

This is still sounding like a mux fault to me, not that I know much about it but I'm going to need a build code because 2001 puts it right in the middle - have a squint at this viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15713&p=153034&hili ... er#p153034
