Morning! Got woke up at 4am by flashing orange light coming through the window. At first I thought the bin men were keen this morning then it dawned on me my car is French, I had better check it, just incase. Sure enough it was my hazards flashing very quickly. Tried unlocking it from the fob and it stopped (thankfully!) So I locked it again and forgot about it. 5 mins later, same thing again! So I left it unlocked until now which has stopped the lights flashing.
As it's a 2002 I guess its to do with the alarm system controlled by BSI. Is there any way to disable the alarm as I don't need it. Preferably without cutting wires or dismantling BSIs!
Thanks!

I'm not 100 % but I believe most car alarms are 'armed' when you lock the car with the plip, locking with the key doesn't affect the alarm.
At least the cars we've had work that way, my lowly D8 LX doesn't have such new fangled gadgetry
I would imagine the alarm could be disabled permanantly via the software route in the BSI but that is a complete guess.

Yes, if you lock it with the key the alarm is completely disabled. If you prod the button by the handbrake before locking with the remote, it disables the ultrasonic movement sensors.
I've noticed they tend to flash as you describe if you try to lock it while it's locked, or unlock while it's unlocked.

Cheers guys... yeah I suspected the battery after a google around. It dropped to -10 here and when I tried to start this morning it sounded like it was having a hard time turning the starter. Might have been because the hazards flashing all night mind!!
I'll see how it goes, invest in a new battery if need be, and just lock with the key when parking in a place I can't keep an eye on it!

I never knew about that "3 minute rule" and dis-obeyed it a few times over the weekend so I hope its not knackered but I'd imagine none of it would work if that was the case!
Plus its only got one of them halfords batteries on that are good for 3 years so its probably that... I'll get it looked it!
