Service Interval Display

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Service Interval Display

Post by Steveo »

Hi there

I hope to be a new owner of a 2.0 HDI Exec soon...

My question relates to the instrument panel service interval mileage display (with a spanner symbol next to it)...

Does this mean that only a Peugeot main dealer can service the car and in so doing re-set the mileage interval until the next service?

I would hate to stop using my trusted back street independent garage and have to pay exorbitant main dealer rates...?

Your thoughts please.

I'm a mk1 owner so no such concerns for me but after a quick search;

Q: I Have Performed My Car's Service Myself, How Do I Remove The Service Spanner?
A: Perform the following

? Turn the ignition off.

? Press and hold the milometer push button (the right hand push button on the dash)

? Turn on the ignition (do not start the car!)

? Wait for the display countdown to reach 0

? Release the milometer push button

? Turn the ignition off.

Turn the ignition on and check that the correct mileage till the next service is displayed.

Hope that helps

Sounds like perfect answers gents, thanks.

The one I'm thinking of buying is a 2001, so I suspect these instructions will work.

Cheers

I believe the service reset instructions are in Autodata, which I have a copy of, so let me know if it works or not and I can have a look if it doesn't.
