Yet another auto wiper problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Yet another auto wiper problem

Post by Svaneberg »

Hey All.
I have a really anoying problem with the auto wipers on my 2002 HDi D9 Estate. Apparently you should be able to see a orange light in the sensor when it is set in auto (have read this in numerous posts). However this is not the case on my car. The wipers only works at normal intermmitent wipers. The mfd reports nothing - no active, No fault. The normal and fast speed works perfect. Have tried to clean the sensor lens and glass several times with No luck. The sensor itself works as I have testet it in a Pug 307 I borrowed.

Anybody have Any ideas/suggestions??

Just a thought_ Did they work before or where they like that when you got the car? Did someone disable the auto function...

Hi Steve
Actually I have only owned the car for 3 month and they haven't worked while I have had it. Nevertheless it is born with the "auto" function on the stalk. I changed the com2000 Unit 2 weeks ago as the light switch malfunctioned. The car is an old Cab and I Don't Know if the previous owner had it disabled (is it even possible?). Will a bsi reset do Any difference/harm?

It does sound like the function has been disabled.

I would try the BSI reset, it may work.

If not, you probably need to get it re-enabled with a PP2000 system.

Yeah you're proberly right. Tried the BSI reset last Night without Any luck. Silly stupid question: pp2000 - what exactly is That and is it something available for the common house mechanic?

Dealer diagnostic system clone - searching eBay for 'Lexia3' usually works. Somewhere around £100 these days

why the hell would someone disable the function ? for me the best solution on the 406 ever ...you don't see many cars from that age with auto wipers ...

And by the way... you really shouldn't have touched the sensor lens ... you may have killed it ... i hope i'm wrong ...

Well. Tried BSI reset a couple of times and it didn't change anything. Think I'll try to get hold of the pp2000 tool. Thanks for All the advices.
