My car is a 2003 406 estate since I bought it in January the electric mirror adjustment hasnt worked and Ive just got round to looking at it.
My findings are:
At least one of the mirrors should be OK as I have replaced it and it was a working unit when I bought it.
Today I have taken out the door switch and tried it in another car and it works.
So my switch is OK and at least one mirror should work but nothing happens any ideas?
The only other electrical issue I have and I dont know if its related is the individual map lights above the mirror dont work, the main courtesy light in the centre which works with the doors is OK.

Re: electric mirrors fault
what sort of electric mirrors are they do they fold, do you have a memory effect with the seats? What mirror works ok passenger or drivers side?
If your switch is ok then id suspect the connections that go into the mirrors there is a cover over the mirrors on the inside of the door take it off and the electrical plugs are visible, but ideally take the mirror off, and give the plug and socket a good cleaning with some contact cleaner or wd40, i had problems with the mirrors and there was some corrosion on the plugs which when cleaned off got rid of the problem.
The two map reading light bulbs can be removed by taking off the light console, then the bulbs can be seen they twist and pull out.

Re: electric mirrors fault
The mirrors do not fold electrically nor do they have memory.
Niether of the mirrors are working but I know the drivers side mirror should work as I have replaced this mirror and it was in working order before I fitted it to my car.
I will check the door connections as reccomended and thanks for the info re map bulbs.

Re: electric mirrors fault
Found the fault it was a fuse changed it and now mirrors, map lights etc all work it appears to have been a fault with the glove box light which had blown the fuse.
It wasnt that easy to find because the plan of the fuse box below the steering wheel in the owners manual needs to be turned upside down to get the orientation correct (or look at the fuse box whilst standing on your head) So I thought the blown fuse was for something else.
