Sat Nav

Post by Fabs »

Hello all, wondering if anyone could advise on an issue I have atm (actually, I have a couple of minor ones, but I'll try to deal with them one at a time)

I recently bought a 53 406 HDi 110 S with Sat Nav system. However, when i bought it the Sat Nav CD was broken so the Aftersales where I bought it ordered me a new one.

6 weeks later I've just picked it up from the dealer and was surprised to get 2 discs:
NavTech GB/Ireland 2004/2005
Magneti Marelli Telematic System Version 490

I straight away tried using the new Map: 'Navigation CD Unreadable'
I then tried using the system disc: 'Navigation CD Unreadable'

I then read the instructions on the system disc again and noticed I was supposed to use the 'radio-telephone' and it would take about 10 minutes. SO I figured it might have meant the dash CD player and inserted the system disc there. It immedialty started playing Track 1/1 which took about 11mins, before it went back to start so I ejected it (had played about 7 secs of second run through)

I then tried the Map disc again in the control head: 'Navigation CD Unreadable'

Is there something obvious i am missing, before I go back to Aftersales and tell them to sort it? (suspecting the player in the control head is faulty)

Are you sure they ordered the right software? "Magneti Marelli Telematic System Version 490" I thought all the 406s had the same PSA Siemens system.

Simple answer ... I haven't got a clue.
I figured the 2005 map was newer than the old one in the system so it might require a firmware upgrade, hence they had sent it to me. When their office is open tomorrow, I'll give them a call to check.

Anyone else upgraded a disc and had to do firmware upgrade?

Hi,

I have just bought a 03 406 HDi 110 SE, with sat nav, the disc is a CD of Great Britain & Ireland 2003 made by Siemans VDO. your car is saying "CD unreadable" there could be a possibility that the disc is a DVD not a CD which mine takes, Magneti Marelli Telematic Systems make the latest maps on DVD discs.

hope this helps

I'd just go back to the dealer you had the car from with the CD's and ask them to sort it out for you. The sat nav unit might also need cleaning. I had to do this in my car when I first had it, and I've read about a few people who've had the same problem.

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Unfortunatley, I forgot to bring the documents to work so I can't phone anyone today. I would love to let the dealers sort it out, but from prior knowledge i need to contact the Aftersales where I bought it (20 mins on hold), before I go to local Peugeot dealers (who seem to be clueless on Sat nav front - nicely pointed out they didn't have a clue about it when i was picking the discs up to ward off any questions) so would rather sort it out myself if possible rather than going through 2 weeks hoop jumping and then find out it's something simple i could have done myself in 2 mins.

Don't suppose anyone in the Aldershot area has a working disc i could borrow for about .. ooo ... 20 seconds? Least then i could see if the fault is disc or control head.

I'd like to wish Adermap a Happy life, if they manage to find one.

Why am I getting so annoyed at these wasters, I'm playing into their hands. We all know it's some little squirt stuck in his bedroom which does this sort of stuff while his right hand is recuperating after over-use.

I have a 53 plate SE 110 which came with no nav CD. (Was a fleet car so I'd suspect they've been arf inched) and the CD drawer in the boot dosen't even open!!

If you find out which CD you need could you post where you got it and the price?

Cheers!

AFAIK this is the only place to get it (officially  )

I've got the 2001/2 UK & Ireland disc, and can try to copy it for you to try (obviously just to check that your system is working.... :? ) but TBH i'm not sure if the drive will play "backups". Anyone know for sure?
