Went to replace the aircon relay in the BSI but......

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Went to replace the aircon relay in the BSI but......

Post by Valandil »

Mine is different to the one in the guide here

http://www.406coupeclub.org/phpBB3/view ... on&start=0

Mines an 02 HDI coupe, I've attached pictures of the BSI. I really didn't expect them to be different. Does anyone know the location of the aircon relay? I'm screwed otherwise!

The guide is for a semi-mux car while yours is full-mux. The wiring diagrams say that the relay is still in there because that's where the feed comes from but they don't show me anything actually inside the box :(

Btw you sure it's the relay?

Yea I've read both of those with help from google translate but the first never revealed anything and the second is a semi mux bsi, thanks anyway though!

Well I put a voltmeter across the power supply to the compressor and got nothing, so I thought what with the relay being a common fault its bound to be that, I couldn't hear it clicking. But I didn't realise about the different bsi's, theres so little info about the relays in this bsi I'm thinking that it can't be a common fault and its probably something else.

I was rushing a bit when I tested it so I'll have another look. I'm not convinced the compressor itself is ok either, no faults on the aircon ecu but the bsi says short circuit on the compressor circuit.

I guess it's not impossible for the relay to pack up (I guess there must be one...)

Here's something I noticed while I was looking before (From here http://www.petrila.net/pug/Service/index.htm )
Edit: Argh! It's enormous! (As the actress said to the bishop) Have a link instead http://www.petrila.net/pug/Service/406/ ... fkd9qe.gif
Look, more connections to give you grief :frown:

Had the same thing occur for me on Monday lunchtime, no click when turning AC on or off and the short circuit fault in the BSI.

Going to try and put in my spare BSI and ECU tonight as a quick check to see if its the BSI relay

can you post a photo of the other side of the pcb and I will see if I can help, relays can be checked easy. Where abouts are you? if you are local I can see if I can help you.

It's not easy to get at the other side of the PCB, you have to desolder a lot of connectors, I have a spare that I've been playing with.

Unfortunately the state reset didn't work for me either :( there's been a buzzing coming from under the dash occasionally though that cycles on and and off for about 10 seconds then stops, I wonder if it's the relay trying to kick in.

There is a picture of the board in this thread though! http://www.passion406.com/t829-probleme ... 6-hdi-2003
