Resistor for non airbag seat

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Resistor for non airbag seat

Post by JD406 »

Hi

Ive fitted D8 leather seats to my D9 and they do not have airbags in them. As the originals did I now have the airbag warning light on. Ive heard that you can fool the system into thinking the airbag is still there by fitting a resistor to the wire. My question is how is this done and what size resistor do I need?

I know someone came on here having done this but I'll be jiggered if I can find it :frown: I had a swift Google and found this: http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Switchin ... ticle.html but the repair manual doesn't say anything about testing the unit  However I did find a value of 3.9 ohms for a 306, I'd have thought the 406 would be something similar.

Also, I reckon this bears repeating as I saw it a lot while I was searching:

Don't measure the value of the airbag with a meter, there's a good chance it'll set the airbag off!!

Thanks Lozz

Just sent that guy on ebay a message, in his store he has loads of airbag resistor kits for different cars so hopefully he can do me one for the 406
