hi all,
got an issue with my 406 v6 coupe (S plate se model) the battery keeps going flat after a few days.
whan running i have 14v plus across it so can rule out an alternator issue.
the aftermarket stereo has being disconnected.
now, when i was drivinbg the car last i could here a really keep ticking , it sounded to be from behind the rear qtr panel on the drivers side, is there anything in this area that could run it down?
battery running flat

Re: battery running flat
Not sure on coupes, but 'straight' 406's have the JBL amp & satnav in that area.
If you can, leave the battery disconnected - if it still goes flat, there's your culprit.
For a quicker answer, disconnect it and measure any current flow when everything's off. Remember to allow enough time for the ecu to 'go to sleep' after turning everything off, (15 mins)?

Disconnect the battery first, see if it's committing suicide.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: battery running flat
We did have someone a while back with a misbehaving split charge relay there, although it wasn't a coupé...

That'll certainly tell you whether it's the battery or not.swampyv6 wrote:so charge the battery then leave it disconnected and see if it runs down again?
