Battery Charging Fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Battery Charging Fault

Post by cockneytone »

Monday evening whilst on my way home from work I heard a beep and the MFD showed Battery charging fault, followed by the red battery light coming up on the dash.
Alternator showed up as not charging so using my works discount a new Alternator not recon or exchanged was purchased from Eurocar parts.
Once the work shop fitted the unit car was fired up and car ran well, then put back in the car park for me to drive home in that evening.
Well bet you know what happened next? yes I got in switched on the engine and drove out the car park and then had beep lights etc.
Workshop discovered under the dash by the pedals is a box with connectors, they reckon the problem is this, also car was very damp inside and the thinking seems to be this is causing the problems?
What is the box they are talking about? As they dont know they normally repair buses! Has anyone experienced this before?
Or has the curse of my Peugeot struck again lol, Everything on this car that has been repaired and replaced has been a problem from day one, mind you was parked up for 2 years.
Hope this can be of use to other owners.

BSI? :? I suspect your car is a D9 from previous comments you've made. This is basically the car's multiplex systems ecu and you'd be up sh*t creek if it got wet
