Battery charge fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Battery charge fault

Post by conchurl »

The battery light on the dials lights up and beeps every now and again and battery charge fault pops up in the mfd, it usually happens when im driving in 1st or 2nd gear at low speed, it will flash and beep for a second and go away again but it could happen 20 times in a row but some times happen at other random times and might not happen for another day or so any idea what the problem is. The battery looks good and is holding the charge could the alternator be at fault or what. the car is a 406 hdi 100 d9 year 2000.

Hi,
Best thing to do is have the Battery checked first, it Might look good but winter kills batterys. (Battery tests are normaly free nothing to loose by having it checked)
there was a simalar topic on this the otherday (De-ja-Vue) might be worth alook through the threads for the result on that,

As Lozz says, many things could cause this, but getting the battery checked is a good start.
