Re: Economy mode active ??
As far as I remember economy mode comes on when the battery drops to a certain level, so it could be a sign that the battery is in trouble yes, amongst other things...

Re: Economy mode active ??
When the battery gets worse you'll get ELECTRONIC IGNITION FAULT on the mfd (got the T-shirt)
This could be related to cold temps and/or the battery needing topping up with de-ionised (if it's that type).

I think those original batteries last well in fairness..... Yours has done well to last this long.. mine was newer and failed late last year.. But then I murdered it by not starting the car for ages!puggy wrote:Cheeky sodSonia406 wrote:Use your multi meter.............It's no good in the shed gathering dust

My original battery was tamper-proof (best way in my house eh Puggy?) so couldn't be filled up... I will say this though, if you are going to charge the battery up, take it off the car to do that, cos I have heard a few horror stories of people f*cking up the BSI/ECU by charging on car, or jump starting on the car...............

See you're getting the hang of it then, Sonia.Sonia406 wrote: Cheeky sod

Not sure if economy mode is triggered by battery voltage or simply by how long the accessories have been active since last engine start, (seen both explanations).

If you think the weak battery symptoms listed above are bad, mine does all of them, plus..........
turns the auto lights on,
adds abouut 4k to the service indicator,
turns the head unit on at volume 22,
resets the auto wipers so they'll work without being turned off/on,
indicates an outside temperature of 37 deg and gives the 'Risk of Ice' message,
reports, 'Navigation CD Unreadable', then tells you what street you're in when you thump the radio power button to shadup the goddam NOISE!
apart from that, it's fine.
