I might have got someone who can fix the sat nav screens:
http://pixelfix.net/eng/
I have sent them a few emails, and although they are based in Hungary i posted them my spare sat nav screen with a connector to see if they can make replacement LCD ribbons.
If there was a few interested members the cost would probably go down. But i think the peugeot display problem is very similar to a problem SAABs have with their displays.

Re: Sat Nav Repair Service
Good thing you mentioned spare displays, at the moment if the display has missing lines its basically worthless, if a new ribbon cost say £30, a fixed up display can fetch over £100 on ebay any day.

Re: Sat Nav Repair Service
After a while of checking with different suppliers unfortunatley its not possible to economically repair these screens, their explanation for why these displays go is as follows:
Normally, the Z axis conductive adhesive dries over time, but in case of Peugeot 406, 407 and 607 my experience is that replacing the ribbon and the adhesive does not help. The problem is caused by some sort of short caused by oxides that grow between the plumbum oxide pads / traces. This short overloads the driver IC and makes it malfunction if it heats up.
So I'd say the glass and the cable should both be replaced to get these units fixed properly...

Re: Sat Nav Repair Service
I swopped out my sat nav screen for the non sat nav version. It is a 5 min job and works fine (after I replaced the 3 bulbs the Sagem version has). I kept the old screen so if you are looking to put together an order for 10 or so I would be intersted and have Hungarian speaking friend if you need a translator.
