Do you ever hear something like random jazz/polka music?

Obscure I know but on very very random occasions my 2003 HDi plays what sounds like about a second or two of polka/jazz music through the stereo.

The first time it happened I was listening to the CD player and thought I'd caught the remote and flicked to the radio (the CD song stops, you get a moment of silence a quick polka hit for a second or two then back to the CD) but that wasn't the case as the display still registered playing the disc.

Anyone ever experienced this or know what it is? Its always the same tune, always the same length.

HAHAHA WTF? Can your phone record video? If so, record it happening and upload it somewhere so we can see

Have you got a cd player head unit AND a cd changer?

What's on the other radio band(s)? (i.e. AM/MW if you listen to FM)

EDIT: hang on, have you got the interrupt-your-music-with-travel-news thingy enabled on your stereo?

There really is no way to record it as it is sooo random and happens really quickly.

I'll check that traffic thing as thats a good idea but I don't think its that as none of my radio stations are tuned in cos I never use them. The unit has a tape deck and multichanger in the boot along with fitted satnav.

RDS is what mjb's talking about, my mate drove the Pug the other week when I was dropping the Jap crap off at the garage again and he must have been fiddling about with it 'cos the other day I suddenly got a bast of some loonatic babbling away too fast for me to understand

Soon got rid of that nonsense.

It's always the same music, always the same length. Thinking about it it could be like a jingle before the music switches across to RDS or similar, will have to check the settings.

yes it's the volume setting feature for the sat nav.

Now it all makes sense, problem is my drive can't read the satnav disc so I cant access that menu. Any way round it?

Have you tried cleaning the laser lens in the sat nav? Mine seems to need doing every couple of years. Even so, it can take a few attempts to get it to accept a disc.

I found that cleaning the lens and adjusting the bias current was needed on mine.

Cleaned lens and disk was hit and miss, after I adjusted the bias current the drive is solid

I get it on the Estate if i tap the auto lights button a few times, Coupe doesn't do it tho!
