Obd dashboards anybody got one working?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Obd dashboards anybody got one working?

Post by Doggy »

Since Mrs doggy recently fleeced me for an iPad mini, I wondered if there was some low cost stuff out there that might enable me to have a dabble?

Anyone know how / what you need obd/bluetooth hardware wise?

I think "ELM 327" is the interface, and as usual it's pot luck with "apps". I believe one of the most popular is "Torque" and it as a free version.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

So, an ELM 327 interface will work with 406 ? will i be able to see the measurements of the engine like how much diesel is injecting, air, etc?

That's what I'm trying to find out. I've read conflicting reports, some say it's OK, some not. :?

I have a bluetooth OBD gizmo (cheapie eBay ELM jobbie for about £6) and Torque for Android which I've used on various cars before - hooked it up to the 406 out of curiosity (expecting nothing) and found that it actually mostly worked rather well as far as basic readings and fault codes are concerned.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130884616668? ... 1439.l2649 is the one I bought - as I say, works on mine, reading and clearing fault codes and showing most of the basic sensor readings, but I do understand that it's a bit of a lucky dip when it comes to OBD readers and 406's, so your mileage may vary!

A mate of mine text me about this a few weeks back when he was having egr problems with his Renault he got himself an elm 327 and downloaded a torrent file for it to work on his car... it picked up any codes he needed to read... Links for file and Elm will be posted on here over the weekend when he's back online and able to send them to me.

Worth a try?

I bought an ELM327 off ebay and dash command for the iphone. For the 406 its a waste of time (it might work on the petrol engined cars )
As a general fault code reader for other cars its fantastic, it can read codes and turn off the engine management light.
