PP2000 question - ECU not replying?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

PP2000 question - ECU not replying?

Post by Fuzzdog »

Told you I'd be reeling off the questions soon enough! :D

Got my Lexia/PP2000 setup through today, and merrily went through the install procedure, etc, then plugged it into the car to find... it only talks to the engine ECU. Everything else (BSI, ABS, etc) comes up as 'ECU has not replied'. Tried the global test and trying to go in to the individual units - nope!

Tried several versions of PP, all with absolutely no luck - it'll read the engine ECU fine, clear codes, all you could possibly want from that - just absolutely bugger all from anything else, which is somewhat annoying, as the other things are the parts I want to interrogate.

Any ideas? And yep, I selected 406R and put the right build code in. Adapter is from a UK seller, firmware 4.2.2 - tried 4.2.4 as well, no joy.

Can be damned frustrating these things. Mine fortunately has always worked 100% on my own cars and maybe 25/30 other peoples, but when I connected it to jasper5's van last year, it would only talk to one of the ecu's, (heating and ventillation, or something equally useful). Don't know the answer, but it's the kind of behaviour you'd get from something that just about works...... The smart move is probably to get it swapped for another one sooner rather than later.

One other thought - I think the engine ecu uses a different connection from, everything else, (the 'K-line' IIRC). Maybe you have a wire or two not connected at your diagnostic socket, or a duff connection in the lexia interface/leads.

Be nice to try your kit on another car, or another diag setup on yours.

Believe me, the way this car is going, I'm amazed there wasn't just a crayon drawing of a diagnostic port stuck behind the cover.

So far as I can tell, the diag port connections go like this:

pin 1, wire no. CM04P, +12V from F4, engine fusebox
pin 4, wire no. MC01, GND
pin 5, wire no. MC04, GND
pin 6, wire no. 6394, seat/mirrors ecu
pin 7, wire no. 9006, engine ecu
pin 15, wire no. 9007, engine ecu
pin 11, wire no. 9008, BSI
pin 12, wire no. 9009, ABS/ESP
pin 16, wire no. BM05C, +12V from F5, engine fusebox

Worth checking both fuses - I got caught with one of these initially.

Sent an email to the seller, and got a swift reply - he recommended that I go and try it on another Peugeot to rule out my car being the issue. I'm considering standing at the roadside with a laptop and a big sign saying "Free Peugeot disgnostics!"

I shall have a rummage around and check wires, fuses, etc this afternoon. My temp gauge has started dropping to zero occasionally as well, so I wouldn't be too surprised to find something horrendous under the carpet.

Must say, this forum is one of the most welcoming and helpful car forums I've joined over the years. Nicely done, all.

Poked around in the engine bay fuse box, and found a couple of blown fuses!

Replaced the fuses and connected the laptop, and I can now talk to the ABS ECU and the engine ECU, but no others.

However, in the process, my car now has no ABS light on, no brake light warning on, and the speedo works along with the cruise control, leaving me with a total fault count of... zero!

Is there a handy guide to both the engine bay and passenger compartment fuses for the late D9 anywhere online? I assume it's somewhere in the owners manual, which I don't have, and the version I can get through Service Box is not particularly legible where pictures are concerned.
