Hi,
I'm a newbie on this forum, so please be gentle!
I have a 406 estate 110 HDI LX (2000 W) with a curious central locking problem.
Sometimes the locking will work, sometimes it won't.
When it works, you can stand 5 - 10 feet away and there is the clunk of locks engaging. When it doesn't, you can stand right next to the car and it ignores you. The key is a diamond shape with two buttons and an indicator LED. I assume it is a radio key?
I 'm trying to work out where the aerial for the receiver is located, but have had no success so far. If it's the radio aerial, the tuner will only seek properly when in DX mode, or is that another can of worms?
Can someone help please?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the comments ...
The LED on the remote flashes brightly when the buttons are pressed, so the battery is OK (It's quite new).
I had to go to my local dealer for a top hose, and I asked them about it. Turns out they have a test box to check keys.
Checked mine and sometimes it doesn't seem to transmit properly, even though the light flashes ... both from a distance and close-up.
Seems the key is just getting old (like me).
Also, the techie was an ex-student from the school I work at ... That was a surprise ...
