Separating Electric window switches

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Separating Electric window switches

Post by Sonia406 »

Now, I have mastered the art of separating the wired connection to the actual switch, but is there a way to separate the switch itself?

I ask this because, in my haste this morning to the rear N/S door card I was prizing the switch out (upwards out of the door card) and something got stuck, the switch itself came apart and I have lost a lug on the one side of the switch, so although it goes back together well and DOES work - I want to use one of these switches that came with the door cards........

I also notice one of these switches isn't all that well, (you usually hear a click upon press, to press down there is no click) so .. guys?

Looking at this picture of one that came off the door cards I am installing, I need the middle part, the part on far left of the part on the far right - WTF, does that even make sense

And yes, when I got bored I twisted those wires to make a pretty pattern & this one looks prettier... :supafrisk:

Not in the slightest  Do you mean the switch housing where the electrics plug into it? Can't you fire up MSPaint and put an arrow on the pic? If you've got one bust can't you figure it out from the remains? I usually find this sort of switch either comes to bits easily or I only figure out how to get it to bits once it's already in bits because I broke it trying...

Ok it's not exactly an arrow but you can see what I am trying to get at...

I do mean the switch housing, where it plugs into... you are right!
I don't do technical terms

well, stupidly I put it all back together to see if it would hold and work ok regardless of the missing lug, turns out no it won't work nicely and it's stick again .... dear oh dear....

Or arrows apparently  Not that I'm willing to rush out and start pulling (and presumably breaking) switches apart but.. do you not now have 4 switches, two of which are knackered but two are ok? Service Bucks says both sides are the same...

Don't worry, I sorted it out... Didn't need to pull it apart, would of liked to use my switch as the one I had here looked a bit old... and faded, but couldn't be arssed with breaking it...

All door cards on now :)
