wipers gone crazy
hi was looking for some advice i have just brought a v reg 406 estate and the wipers are doing my head in they dont work on the first or second setting and only wipe on swipe or fast but carry on going after they have been switched off and then park anywhere ! i have carried out a reboot of the bsi as i have read on hear that can work but not resulting in any progress ! i can hear the relay in the bsi click when going onto fast setting and swipe but not automatic or slow ! also when i put the ignition on the side windows will not work on the switch untill the engine has started ! is this the norm for thease or is it another fault !?? i see a lot of people have had this problem but not much on how they have resolved it !? all ideas welcome as im considering pulling my last little bit of hair out !

Hi and welcome to the forum,
sorry you've had no repl'ys.
hard to guess upon -bad earth somewhere?
has the driverside (footwell- carpet damp by any chance, theres aloom underthere with a connector on it causes all sorts of
gremlins if theres ingress,
windows shouid work with just ign on iirc.

Hi, yes it is worth checking the passenger foot well as Peugeot decided it would be a safe place to run electric cables.....
This does seem a bit random, possibly ignition barrel connection for the window fault and maybe the comms unit for the wipers..??
Do your windows work when you turn engine off again, before you open the drivers door they should work for a few seconds before powering off....

Re: wipers gone crazy
hi there thanks for the replys ! i aint had the carpets up yet but did have a feel for dampness but there was non i will lift them up in the morning to have a check of the looms ! as for the side windows ! nothin works untill the engine is running windows, wipers, stereo,! only the oil light lights up there is no glow plug light and then upon start up the oil light goes off and all the systems have power to them !! if i turn the engine of with the windows down i have to restart the engine to put them down !!

Re: wipers gone crazy
Hi and welcome aboard.
Sounds like one or more of the relays that should energise on either the accessory or ignition positions is not pulling in until the engine's runing. (Hence the ignition switch and damp connector suggestions you've already had).
Would't hurt to unplug / re-plug all the relays you can find.
You say V-reg, that means it could be the early, (D8) model with slatted grille ot the newer (D9), with black honeycomb grille - which is it, as the electrics vary quite a bit?
