abs sensors ebay???

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

i wouldn't be surprised if they were the same ones, i fitted some from ebay that were £10 each on my focus 2 years ago and they have been fine.

Can i ask what was wrong with them? i keep getting the lights flash up but are very often back off again after a restart.... It might not happen for weeks and then it's every time i start the car... Brakes seem to work fine to me but it can be annoying.

Hi, I've just looked on service box too. I seems front and rear are different but universal across the axle.?
I remember Sonia had lots of trouble with her ABS sensors - I think it was mostly down to bad connections - try to unplug and clean connectors out first.
The sensors are a git to remove iirc, probably corroded in place and not a lot of space to get tools in....

Mine said 48 front & 49 rear. I'm starting to think when the shoe retaining pins & springs snap & end up running around inside the drum they've damaged the sensors. But at around £10 each worth a shot

Got the abs sensors but I've heard they are a pain to remove. I'm thinking a 3/8 long extension bar & a good whack shop pop them out. Any other tips plz

It's mainly the bolts holding the sensors in that cause the problem.

He's right and to tell you the truth this was the one major factor to my 406 being replaced with a dirty diesel variant...

I replaced the sensor (with one of the sensors you're eying up from eBay) and STILL have the problem persisting.
Sure, clearing the codes with PP2000 cured it for a while, until I harsh braked again, or just any random moment.
Reluctor rings were all in tact with no juddering under the brake pedal.

Jasper5 is also right, it's the retaining bolt holding the sensor in that gives grief. I tried everything to get the bloody thing off. In the end the sensor had to be chiseled away and was removed that way. Bolt stayed put, gently drilled the metal sleeve off the new sensor and glued it in that way!

As I say, I personally lost the will to live over my ABS fault.
I always planned on eliminating the connection box (connects sensor to car) but to be perfectly honest with you, it's
1) in an awkward place to solder the wires together etc
2) I lost interest in fixing a car that was falling apart and needing new parts every single week

Car is now SORN and rotting on my drive way for that very ABS fault........

Good luck with yours - hope you have better luck sorting yours than I did mine..........

Good luck with that....... seriously
You have the axle beam in the way and the handbrake cable - I found access a complete nightmare......

I couldn't get my o/s/r sensor out after I accidentally smashed the tip off when removing the handbrake from the back-plate - I don't think I have ever sworn so much at an inanimate object..

Got my local garage to do it instead - new one was £25 from a MF but saved loads of grief.

WD40 the hell out of your sensor bolts for a couple of days before removal, give yourself plenty of time to do the job too.

I agree with that! My car was on the axle stands so long when she finally made it down I thought she looked like a chavvy car that had been lowered

The picture in my signature (if you look closely) is when the abs sensor was dangling down
