No brake lights
Alright lads I have a bit of a problem with my 406 the brake light are not working none of the 3 are working. I checked the bulbs in the back but they are fine I changed the brake light switch and still they are not working. I check all the fuses and they are fine all other light are working and everything in the car is working. It is a Peugeot 406 2.0 hdi 110bhp. I have Peugeot planet and no problems are coming up.

Re: No brake lights
Is Peugeot Planet registering you pressing the brake pedal? Did you try shorting the connections to see if the brake lights come on?

Re: No brake lights
I had this problem with my estate. It was caused by a single broken wire within the tailgate. Next to right hand hinge is a black corrugated rubber trunking. (Right hand with the tailgate up and looking into the back).
I had to cut the rubber conduit off with a stanley knife to see the wires clearly. Pulled each one individually to check. Only one is responsible for all 3 lights. I presume it broke with the repeated flexing as tailgate opens.
Hope this helps.

Re: No brake lights
Isn't there a switch under the brake pedal that registers when it moves and turns the lights on?

Re: No brake lights
I'd be consulting the wiring diagram, and checking continuity to eliminate the possibility of there being a break in a wire somewhere.

Re: No brake lights
Do you have 2 separate switches on the brake pedal, one for lights and one for cruise control? If so, did you replace the right one..?

Re: No brake lights
I have good news and bands news. The good news is that I fixed the brake lights today the bad news is my front dipped light is not working and is not getting any current. The joys of having a french car

Re: No brake lights
So you're all set to enable cruise...
The headlight dips and mains are all individually fused
Aside: the driver's side headlamp just blew in the yoyo - it couldn't go when I went to see my mate in the car spares shop, oh no, it had to wait until I'd left there and gone to pick the wife up
It better not be anything more serious than a blown bulb *reaches for baseball bat*
So what was it in the end?conchurl wrote:I have good news and bands news. The good news is that I fixed the brake lights today the bad news is my front dipped light is not working and is not getting any current. The joys of having a french car

Re: No brake lights
put back in the old switch and changed a fuse(had nothing to do with brake lights) and i moved some fuses around. im off again tomorrow so will spent a bit of time messing with it. do you know what fuse does the passenger side dipped beam and i just spotted my front fog lights are now working either, no current at the bulbs. any idea what fuses to check?steve_earwig wrote:So you're all set to enable cruise...So what was it in the end?conchurl wrote:I have good news and bands news.
