Coolant sensor cleaning?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Coolant sensor cleaning?

Post by gumby6371 »

My coolant light flicks on now and again but levels are fine so I just grabbed one from a breaker while I was getting some trim bits and pieces. It has a bit of scale on it and I want to clean it up before fitting.
Will descaler damage it?
Only cost a quid so worth a punt!

If you're worried about the descaler you could use vinegar...

(answering the right thread this time hopefully :frown: )

Success! cleaned up my £1 coolant sensor andfitted it and no warning light for 48 hours.

The old one flashed on and off with every journey so that's job done :D

Splendid :cheesy: What did you use as descaler in the end?

What sensor was it? the one on the expansion tank? Mine started beeping Christmas eve when engine is cold or warm, not been far in it but the wife just came in and said it's doing her nut in... Great timing we're suppose to be going away in it tomorrow.

Expansion tank sensor mate, it has thrown the light up once since I swapped it but it was flashing on and off every journey so its a massive improvement
