cruise control woes

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

cruise control woes

Post by jonny81191 »

The cruise control has died on me :(

It was working perfectly, and has just stopped. The only thing I have done is to fit studs and spacers to the rear, and I noticed as I arrived at work that the ends of the studs are just touching something in the rear handbrake drum. But I don't see that being related.

Which fuse do I need to check?

Any other suggestions?

Edit: it's a 110 hdi executive

Very common cause is lack of coherence between the two brake switches.

Sorry for brevity, am on phone - have a search on here for more info.

The other common one is a slow-to-rise clutch pedal - if it happens again try lifting the pedal with your toe / try again.

My previous 406 used to do this for no good reason, maybe twice a year but always fixed itself for the next journey.

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head there TBH, as I arrived at work, I noticed the clutch was lower than normal (CJ mentioned to me about the issue when I got the car) so I just pulled it back up with my foot. After work, it was working again.

Jonny, did you get the master cylinder yet? I really wonder if it will fix it. Or whether it's the weak spring under the pedal...

Both look rather awkward to replace though....
