Cost of Light Bulbs...

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Cost of Light Bulbs...

Post by trufflehunt »

For years, I'd buy sets of spare bulbs from Pound shops.

Typically for £1 you'd get a bubble pack with about 6 bulbs.., an H4 headlight one, couple of stop/tails,
an interior, couple of sidelight bulbs... Really good value.

Last week, though, sidelight bulb stopped working on 406.
Went to Poundland. Hardly any car stuff now, but a much expanded area
for phone accessories. Certainly no car bulbs.

Looked in several other cheapo shops. No luck.
Then into 'Proper Job' , a South West regional budget chain.
Bubble pack of bulbs... £3.99.

But I only wanted a *~**## sidelight bulb.

Gave up, went to P dealers.... 75p, I think it was.

10 minutes later .. walked into another budget store... 'Range'...
Had the obligatory wander to the carstuff section.
Staring me in the face.., twin pack of sidelight bulbs for £1.

Quid shops are ok.
but ifind bulbs and things are cheap jobbies from china.

people think pound shop stuff is cheap and how can they sell it at that price,

they get it for something like 38p a unit, so just think what poor chaps in china get ..quality control wont exist.

Agreed.

I was quite happy at the 75p from the dealers.

I buy from the motorfactors, they're good quality and a H4 bulb is something like £2.50

Halfords is the funniest, £19 for the same damn bulb

Halfords trade card often makes bulbs a reasonable price :D

For those who have to pay, I find that buying boxes of 10 from a Factor is the cheapest way of getting bulbs.
