Anti pollution fault

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Anti pollution fault

Post by lionyo »

I have 406 2.2 HDI 136BHP Saloon and have the Engine management light and anti pollution fault.

It went off after a few motorway drives but then comes back on when it is taken above 2500rpm approx.

So far I have replaced the Swirl flap as that was broken, swirl flap actuator sensor and the denso sensor that is on the passenger side above by the headlight.

Are my vacumm pipes fitted right way? Anyone take a look at there car and compare with mine?

Hi, Finchy is the best one to talk to on the ' other side ' as he knows the Hdi inside out.

Just to test though, you can swap the 2 pipes and the electric connector from the left EV ( turbo ) to the middle EV and vice versa and see if it helps. The pipes are correct so you have a reference point to come back to.

Is the tiny pipe from intercooler to the Denso sensor okay or perished?

I personally think this could be related to the fuel pressure sensor as it happens at higher revs, although I am no expert.

The part number for all those bulkhead EV's are 1628.HC and swapping the left and middle ones is a good idea for a test (although if both have an issue it doesn't help!), another area to check is the vacuum chamber in front of the brake servo, small black plastic chamber which has three vacuum pipes enter the bottom of it, i've know these to fail too and cause the same issues by slightly leaking vacuum, when mine was swapped on my old Coupe one plastic pipe was so brittle it broke away trying to remove the vacuum pipe.
