Swapped sat nav display, lost cd changer and remote control?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Swapped sat nav display, lost cd changer and remote control?

Post by benczuk »

I swapped in a "new" sat nav display at the weekend and it appears to have lost the CD multichanger functionality on the stereo and the steering wheel controls no longer work.

I'm going to swap the old one back in to confirm it is the new display, but has anyone ever experienced this? i know you have to PP2000 to turn on a multi changer, but I'm surprised if the bit you are telling is the display, not the BSI...

Popped the old one in and all started to work again. So assume I have to tell it it has a cd changer again once I can get my PP2000 back off my dad... bizarre

Sounds like you need to 'configure' the display, to stop the BSI sulking.

Having finally got the PP2000 back I spent 3 hours on this little job yesterday...

There is an order you have to go though to configure the various features for the MFD, and I still don't know what it is :(

At various points I had anything from just a clock, to a radio (sound) with nothing shown on the screen, non functional trip computer buttons, non functional rear speakers, working radio, no CD or steering controls etc etc.

Reassuringly whenever I put my 'old' unit back in everything worked, until i decided to start checking settings on it for reference at which point I lost everything on that one :x

It took so long I had to stop for an hour with a battery charger on as it drained it flat (admittedly my battery is already pretty buggered)

I finally managed to get the screen, radio, trip computer, cd changer, nav and steering controls to work. Good luck to anyone in the future. I would suggest you get the spec details of the donor car from whoever is selling you one so you know what the screen is pre configured with, and thus what you need to tell it you have 'installed' in the car.
