Does anyone have a heater resistor for a 406 2.0 hdi 110 on a 51 plate with aircon. It's the one that sits up in the passenger foot well with a the green 2 pin plug and a 4 pin plug going to it. My blower has stopped working but i know its not the fan as I have it workingby bypassing the resistor , the fan starts up.
I tried a repair service on e bay but its still not working , has anyone purchased a good working replacement, if so can you please recommend someone
part numbers 657165 w/h & 73418412 / j ........printed on part
many thanks paul

Re: heater blower fan resistor
I bought an eBay one for £20 2 years ago and its still going strong.
A second hand one is probably a similar price, and not guaranteed to work...
Try Gareth - he's breaking his 53 plate, viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22397&p=226034&hili ... ng#p226034

Re: heater blower fan resistor
thanks for the info........
i contacted the repair service and they said they found a fault in the resistor pack , i had a short circuit mosfet ????? and it was repaired & tested before being dispatched . they have however offered to retest the pack.
my next question is there anything else i can check .......i have heard of faulty ignition barrels but as i said in my original post i had the fan running when bypassing the resistor ..................also should the fan run if the ignition is switched on but without turning over the engine ????
thanks again paul

Re: heater blower fan resistor
Hi Paul, the fan will not run without the engine running.
Have you tried putting your blower on full blast with the engine running, and wiggling the connectors at both the blower end and the resistor end? You may or may not get a blast of air....
The ignition barrel can also cause problems but not so common. If yours is playing up then you only need the wiring from the barrel to the loom - its about 9" long and new keys/lock/transponder is not necessary...

Re: heater blower fan resistor
Fan finally working again, my original resistor repaired by firm on ebay but a also ordered a new resistor off ebay for 20 quid.
At first both original and new resistor didn't seem to be working.
i tried testing for 12v on the feed and load supply on repaired resistor and new .......all ok . But when I reconnected the moulded green plu ( 6pin ), there was no voltage on the pos connector. Tried wiggling connectors still no joy. I then took 6 pin plug apart and made sure connectors ( very flimsy ) we're tight fitting .
I retested and hey presto fan up and running..........but fan stopped whilst refitting into void. Again I removed and made adjustments to the green connectors. Now all ok........I must off widened the gap in the connctors whilst bypassing the resisistor using household wire.....must remember to buy some mini croc clips..........lol

Re: heater blower fan resistor
Hi. I have had a problem with this. When I brought my 406 2.0hdi 90bhp on a 03 plate. I was told that the blower didnt work and the parts were in the glove box. It turns out the the wires had been cut and something put in to work on a straight on off. On the control panel the insides had been taken out and a bolt glued to the fan knob with a switch. Long story short I have since replaced the control panel. (Not a digital one, one with 3 knobs and 3 buttons as thats what was there with the green cable for heat and air position). And a new heater resistor from ebay. Now it only works on full blast. Have I just been unlucky and got a dodgy resistor from ebay. Or have I connected the wires wrong. Help pleeeeeese :-)
